Sparkling with natural beauty, diamonds are one of the world’s most sought-after and adored gemstones.

But why is it that these little gems are one of the most valuable materials on the planet?

Diamonds have been cherished for centuries, dating back to 4 and 6 B.C. Many different cultures had their beliefs about the healing, magical and protection properties of diamonds.

During ancient Romans times, it was believed that diamonds were slivers of stars that fell from the heavens above that had magical properties.

Today, the reason Diamonds are so valuable is due to how they are formed. Over millions of years under perfect heat and pressure conditions, diamonds naturally form inside the Earth’s mantle which is approximately 90-240 miles below the surface. Once formed, the diamonds are brought to the Earth’s surface via volcanic eruptions or movement of the subduction zones that bring them to the ocean floor.

This unexplainable natural process that happens is truly special which is why these one-of-a-kind gems are so precious and valuable.

Diamonds are categorized by four criteria, known as the 4 c’s. These include color, clarity, carat weight, and cut.

The quality and price of a diamond are impacted by each of these factors.

When it comes down to choosing what diamond is right for you, one must decide which is of most importance and make certain that the highest quality possible is obtained.
