In the ever-evolving world of fashion and personal styling, London-based Katie & Sukh have carved out a niche for themselves that’s as unique as their journey. With over 20 years of combined experience, their approach to fashion is not just about what you wear but about crafting a lifestyle that reflects your true essence. Let's dive into their story and discover what drives this dynamic duo.
How did the partnership of Katie & Sukh come to be?
Katie: Sukh and I met through a series of unforeseen circumstances, where we had to think and act quickly. Within 24 hours, we flew to three countries, delivered two gowns, and turned a stressful situation into a client success. We've been inseparable ever since. The universe has a way of putting the right people together at the perfect time.
With over 20 years of combined experience in the fashion industry, how have you seen personal styling evolve, and what trends do you think will shape the future?
Personal styling has evolved into something far beyond just clothing. It's about your entire lifestyle—wardrobe, nails, hair, scent, interior, and even your car. We believe the future will focus on statement luxury, investment pieces, and custom creations. People always want something unique, and custom items make style more personal and special.
What do you find most rewarding about working in the fashion industry, particularly in personal styling?
The people, the travel, the unique experiences—we love it all. But the best part? The referrals from our clients. Knowing they trust us enough to recommend us is incredibly rewarding. It’s how we’ve grown, and it keeps us going.
How does your experience influence your approach to styling fine jewelry? Any tips on incorporating statement pieces into everyday wear?
Our experience has taught us the value of simplicity. We're inspired by the 'old money aesthetic'—think timeless, understated elegance. We recommend starting with a few essential statement pieces, like diamond studs, a gold bangle, or a pinky ring. These pieces are versatile for layering and can often become cherished family heirlooms, making them 'investment pieces' in your jewelry wardrobe.
Styling Tips:
Match your gold tone to your skin for a cohesive look.
Layering adds depth and personality to simple outfits.
Coordinate your jewelry with your bag/accessory hardware for a chic finish.
If you mix golds, keep it consistent from head to toe.
Birthstone jewelry is a subtle, personal touch to any outfit.
What’s your favorite piece of jewelry and why?
My top picks are rings—one from my Nanny, a yellow gold ring with black sapphire and diamonds, and a diamond yellow gold signet ring from my mother. I never take them off! Sukh loves his pearl white gold earring—it's very George Michael. Without it, he wouldn’t be the same!
What are you up to next?
We are actually heading to Singapore and New York next! We have never been to Singapore before and have heard the most amazing things about it. Apparently there are the most exclusive and limited edition pieces there from designers which we can't wait to see.
